Stunning new Victorian Ball Gown Skirts

I adore these new skirts, they have vast amounts of fabric in the for this price too! (£49.99) If you want that huge ballgown skirt effect these can be worn with a hoop petticoat for an awesome effect.

I think this skirt would be perfect for a steampunk look when teamed with a corset and mini top hat...need to set up a photoshoot for that methinks!

Real Nappy Week

This week is Real Nappy Week! I used cotton nappies on my daughter and saved a load of money and had THE most cool nappies ever lol! How cute was she in this :D

Cotton nappies these days are very different from the terries and plastic pants of old I'm glad to say. If you've got a washing machines they are super easy to wash and flushable liners make changing really easy. I have to say though, dont bother buying any of the ones they stock in the shops, as most of them are not a patch on what you can get online (Tots Bots being an exeption!). There is a Solihull Real Nappy Network that run "Nappuchinos" once a month where you can have a coffee and check out some of the nappies that are not available in the shops. Check their website for more info
Real Nappy Events :-
Nappuchino The CafeBar, Solihull Arts Complex (Solihull Central Library) on Tuesday, 5th May. You can drop in anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 pm.

Farmer's Market, Solihull High Street 10am-3pm on 1st May.

Real Nappy Event in Birmingham on 5th May 10am-1pm at Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre.  They are doing a nappy fashion show at 10.30am but there are also going to be lots of things to do for babies and toddlers… Rhythm time, bouncy castle, free soft play, face painting etc etc…plus nice refreshments for parents (fresh fruit platters).

For more info on Real Nappy Week check out www.goreal.org.uk

If you cant make it along to any of these events check out these guys who sell the best cotton nappies that I tried and tested and would highly recommend!

What to wear with a corset??

Ok so you've bought one of our very lovely corsets and now you are wondering what the flippin heck your going to wear it with!

Of course you can just wear it on it's own ;P Maybe teamed with a pair of frilly knickers and stockings..oh my! (Lily corset £89.99, Frilly knickers £9.99)

For a slightly more casual look go for shirt and jeans (Papillion Corset £69.99)

Or maybe just jeans? (Skull Corset £89.99)

Team with a floor length or knee length skirt to create a prom, formal gown or even a bridesmaids dress. The shape a corset will give you is always going to be far superior to any other dress you could buy. When worn correctly with a skirt it will look like a one piece dress, don't let the fact that it's actually separates put you off! As a side note..actual corset dresses with the skirt attached rarely fit well and generally you need to go up a few sizes as they have to be worn fully closed to allow for the skirt..booo! (PS we've just had a delivery of stunning floor length skirts in lace, satins and velvets..piccies coming soon!)
(first pic Mollflanders Corset £39.99 Lace Panel Skirt £39.99 2nd pic, Dragon Silk Corset £44.99 with Knee Petticoat skirt £39.99)

You could try a high neck victorian shirt or top for a more period look. This is great for doing Steampunk style too, just add some cogs and a pair of goggles...awesome! We're big fans of steampunk at Airy Fairy and we have some great photo shoots planned..watch this space :D (Green Waspie corset £39.99)

Wear with a layered full skirt or petticoat for a demure yet sexy look. Any fans of the Japanese Gothic Lolita look should pay attention..you don't need to shop in Japan to get the look! Just add the accessories, a tiny crown or mini top hat, and platform mary jane style shoes. (Gypsy Top £19.99, Waspie Corset £39.99, Lolita Skirt £24.99)

You can go all black with maybe a little bit of PVC and go for strong dark make up for an ultra gothic look! (Mollflanders corset £39.99, Lolita PVC skirt £24.99)

Go for a quirky punky look, team with a tutu and some stripy stockings or tights! (Polka Dot Corset £39.99, Stripy Stockings £3.99)

Go burlesque! Add a top hat and frills for the Moulain Rouge esq. look!  (Mollflanders Corset £39.99, Hot mini skirt £19.99, Top Hat £9.99 Garter worn on top hat £4.99)

Anyways, I could go on forever lol! If you need some ideas for an outfit to go with your corset..why not email me and I'll see if I can help you out, I'm good like that :D katie.francis@airyfairyshop.com
